NHS NSS identified a need for a leadership programme which focuses on modern leadership approaches from a new or different perspective, considering the soft skills involved in leadership today as well as what people actually want from their leaders. 

The client needed more than generic leadership training. They wanted a modern, forward-looking programme that reflected real-world challenges and delivered practical, actionable strategies. 

Solutions:

We designed and delivered a brand new programme Modern Leadership Essentials, a fully online programme structured into three modules. Each module was crafted to blend contemporary leadership theory with real-world application, ensuring relevance and immediate impact. 

The programme emphasised the soft skills and mindset shifts essential for leadership success today, covering critical areas such as: 

  • Psychological Safety & Trust: Techniques to build environments where team members feel safe to speak up and contribute ideas without fear. 

  • Empowerment & Coaching: Moving from directive leadership to a coaching style that nurtures autonomy and growth. 

  • Effective Feedback & Listening Skills: Practical tools for giving constructive feedback and truly understanding team needs. 

  • Digital Body Language: Mastering non-verbal cues in virtual settings to maintain connection and clarity. 

  • Creative Thinking & Growth Mindset: Cultivating adaptability and resilience to lead through change and uncertainty. 

  • Recent and relevant research: We analysed the work in Gallup’s Global Leadership Report 2025, to get a wider picture of what people really want from their leaders. 

The fully online delivery ensured accessibility across dispersed teams, while interactive exercises, reflection points, and reflective coaching-style facilitated discussions kept participants highly engaged. 

Impact 

The Modern Leadership Essentials programme delivered transformational outcomes for the participants:
